Liv's Legacy
- Solving Eating Disorders
Unfortunately, Liv (Olivia Evans) succumbed to anorexia nervosa, after a two-year battle at aged 15 years, on 28 April 2023. Her father, Robb Evans, has been on a journey with Liv's Legacy, to help solve the problem of eating disorders so that no other child loses their life to this insidious illness.
"Liv was such an incredibly beautiful soul and loving human being. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She loved animals. She loved nature. She loved her family. She loved painting, drawing, sculpting, cooking and interior design. She loved her cheerleading. She wanted to make a difference to others that are suffering from eating disorders", says Mr Evans.
Robb says; "I believe it is a part of my life's mission now to help the world understand what an incredible person Liv was, how her spirit lives on. With Liv I want to fight the battle of helping others to eradicate death from eating disorders and fundamentally change the models of care and approaches to treating such a horrible illness."
"I am proud of what Liv's Legacy has enabled us to achieve to date: $56.51m of funding comprising:
1. Permanent Dog Therapy Program in the Aviary Ward of Monash Children's Hospital
2. Funded "Liv's Loving Paws" Dog Therapy Program at Alfred Health. Further donations are welcome to expand and support this program HERE.
3. $50m of Federal Funding into Eating Disorder Research.
4. $6.5m of State Funding for two in-home Eating Disorder Programs.
5. Social Media Ban for Children until the age of 16. Liv's Legacy has played a fundamental role in convincing the Australian Prime Minister, as part of the 36 Months Project, to pass legislation in Nov 2024 to ban Australian children from social media platforms until they are 16 years of age (up from 13). This is a global first!
6. The outcome of Liv’s Coronial Inquest included the Coroner’s recommendation that the Victorian Government fund a “hospital-in-the-home” style solution to better support people with eating disorders, extending care beyond hospital walls into families’ daily lives.
"We're only just getting started!" Evans says.
